I’ll start by saying the food was really good overall. It came out quickly, was hot, and had good flavor all around. We came in for lunch on a Friday and it was semi busy, most tables full. We were seated right away. Our server was friendly and our water glasses were always full. The few things that bothered me was that the music was really loud. The couple next to us commented on it too. It was hard to have a conversation with my husband across the table without talking loudly. The second thing was the table next to us. They seemed to be friends of one of the severs and she stopped by a few times to talk with them. One of the guys that was in the booth next to me had his shoes off and feet crossed at one point, which makes my dining experience kind of icky feeling. Then he was laying down on the booth as the server was talking to him. We had a four person table, so I was able to sit away from him, otherwise he definitely would have been in my bubble. It was maybe a little pricey for a typical “diner,” but I would say this is a little more upscale. The chicken sandwich alone was $13 and fries were an additional $4, but they did have fresh ingredients, so I would maybe come back for a dinner and make it feel more worth my money.

Oh wow, what a fantastic restaurant. Best dinning experience we’ve had since we moved to Iowa. Had a lovely brunch with cocktails. The entire experience was made even better as we sat at the bar and watched the charming staff preparing meals. The chef de cuisine Matthew Prince and Jackie were so much fun to talk to as they showed us all the amazing dishes and ingredients making the restaurant so special. Worth the drive from Davenport. We’ll be back. We did come back, this time for a fantastic dinner. Everything was so delicious and perfectly prepared. I had the delicious mushroom toast and scallops for my entree.

No Burger is probably my favorite that I ever ate. This place is clean and cozy. Our server was very kind and attentive. My kids tried the biscuits and gravy and they loved it. Would recommend anyone to come and give it a try.

This place is always filled with joy and vibrance: such a welcoming experience for a traveler or visitor! You can definitely see why it is such a popular spot, usually there are long waits, even for lunch hours.

Ordered the recommended breakfast tacos and it was SO GOOD. Everything from the scrambled eggs to the freshly roasted mojo pork was perfect in taste and presentation. It did not disappoint!

Amazing place for some great chicken burgers! I took the spicy chicken burger and it was really delicious with the right amount of spice. The staff is very friendly and courteous! Good selection of drinks as well. Must go if you ate around in downtown Iowa City!

Fantastic food, great service, classic Irish Pub atmosphere. My daughter says it’s the best French Onion Soup in Iowa City; the Rueben is to die for, just perfect. Looking forward to returning!

Day 1 in Iowa city, was hungry and decided to visit Mickey’s. Around 1 PM and it was rush hour as there was only one table left. Having said that the service was on the spot. Waited for maximum of 10 minute before my order was taken by Pea and she was extremely curteous, provided all the answers to the questions asked and ensured to check once in a while. Amazing customer service given by Pea. Abput the taste, had ordered chicken Philly with salads as side and it was delicious, mouth watering and tummy filling. Will visit again for sure.

Food was Great! We went during a lunch rush so my only complaint was it was hard to get the waiters attention as he was preoccupied with other tables. I like the option of indoor AND outdoor seating and food portions were good sized!

Behind the leprechaun door and up two small steps, we stumbled upon Micky’s Irish Pub. Great service and excellent food. I enjoyed an Irish Margerita, which is an extra sour whiskey sour, highly recommend. The Guinness BBQ Chicken sandwich was delicious, I ordered mine on a pretzel roll.

Great atmosphere and seating. Prices are worth it for the high quality food! I had the Steve Winwood, requested toasted, and substituted fries for the Chicken Tortilla Soup (adds $2). I highly recommend this combo! You will not leave hungry, but rather satisfied!

The Java House is a long-standing corner stone of the Iowa City and University of Iowa academic culture. This is the preferred study and socializing local for both graduate students and undergraduate students because of the open and friendly atmosphere which supports conversation and work. There’s a plethora of coffees, teas, bakery items, and sandwiches to choose from for a quick bite or treat. There’s also live music on Friday nights featuring local performer with no cover charged. They also have their own App to make ordering easier.

Met a friend here for conversation.

This place has been here almost thirty years and the interior finishes still somewhat reflect a 90s charm.

The vibe is lived in and familiar and it’s abuzz with all sorts of people picking up a pick-me-up.

My latte was great and I appreciate that the lid and cardboard wrap are kept optional to reduce waste.

Sound levels were pretty good for such a bustling spot. I didn’t have any problems hearing my friend.

The staff was very helpful and friendly! Our food was okay. It didn’t have much flavor. I would come back again if asked, but I’m not sure this is a place I would go out of my way for.

Such a diverse selection; I find something of interest no matter my mood. Amazing staff who can identify the title of a book just by my description. One of the best bookstores I’ve ever been to. Love getting lost here for hours.

Absolutely the best bookstore I’ve been in ever. From Australia to St Augustine to SoCal…. This bookstore is what every reader wants. Books, books, books. On wonderful and varied subjects. A cafe to sit and read in during a cold or rainy day, or a place to meet friends. Great place.

Fantastic independent bookstore, they often have newly published-less mainstream authors in stock, they host many author visits and readings & they have a very nice small coffee shop on the 2nd floor. Their greatest asset, perhaps, is their staff who tend to be knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. They don’t have an overly large footprint and as a result their on-site stock is often less than many shoppers would prefer. They do have a small collection of cards, a small collection of journal type notebooks and a moderate selection of periodicals.

I adore Prairie Lights and feel like it’s a must stop for anyone visiting or passing through Iowa City. It always has the hardest to find books on the shelves and on the rare occasion they do not they will order so you can get anything your heart desires! I also LOVE the coffee shop on the second floor. The coffee is amazing (although I haven’t been in there in ages due to Covid) and love to sit there and chat or read the Iowa Review for a bit. : ) The basement kids section is also a pleasure, my kids love to explore around too.
