I’ve been here a bunch of times and will continue to do so. Parking anywhere in Little Italy is a task by itself so go early soon after they open. Service is good. There’s plenty of seating. Most importantly, the coffee and food are good. I personally like their iced Mexican mocha and iced honey cinnamon latte. On this trip I got the “pull apart bun” and I can’t wait to get it on my next trip! So good.

I stopped by to get some decaf beans, but I must say I am impressed by this place. Situated in a old warehouse, it shares space with some other cool shops. While getting beans I decided to try their decaf mocha with oat milk. Normally I would add sugar when a mocha is not sweet enough, but this one was so good I drank straight. It was pulled perfectly, and mixed well with a good quality chocolate. They don’t use paper cups anymore, so either drink there or get their reusable jars. I support this initiative as it is better for the environment.

I was in SD and finally stopped by this location. The first time I went (Saturday ~9am) it was very busy but I got my order in a timely manner. The second time I went (Sunday ~8am) it was pretty empty. I got a cappuccino and butter croissant and both were good! Definitely check it out.

I don’t know James, but if I did… I would say congrats on making a superb shop of coffee. Excellent espresso with unique seasonal offerings. Very impressed by the strawberry latte. This place does glass only to go. Pretty cool idea but will cost you a 1.50 extra per drink.

Interesting location, inside a refurbished warehouse shared with some gift shops and a barbershop. Coffee was good, and their single origin Ethiopian was fantastic in a cortado. Tried a black sesame and lemon curd croissant, it was tasty and original. Nice staff

Communal Coffee is one of the best coffee shop experiences that San Diego has to offer. Not only is their coffee delicious, but they also serve up small bites and alcoholic drinks here too. The atmosphere is bright and airy and there is plenty of seating, making it a great place to work or study. Plus, the in-house flower shop and selection of jewelry, books, candles, and cards among other things make it a great place for gift shopping as well.

Communal Coffee is one of the best coffee gem in San Diego/ north park location. Not only is their coffee, teas, spirits they offer a vast variety of food options. You must try the avocado toast, flat bread, guava toast, vegan chocolate and lavender donuts, and croissant. The atmosphere is very inviting and pet friendly there is plenty of indoor and outside seating. a great place to work, coffee dates or studying. They also sell local vendors jewelry, books, candles, body oils/ perfumes plus greeting cards. I’ve purchased 2 soy candles, which were amazing. Only con- parking is a nightmare. But I guess that typical for most north park cafes.

I usually come here for the rose latte, which is always fantastic. Today I decided to get the ginger Mediterranean bowl with couscous and was pleasantly surprised. It tasted so fresh and delicious and was quite filling. It was a little toasty out and was surprised to find they had extra seating inside in the back. Noticed lots of people working, but thankfully they didn’t seem to be bothered by me and my friend happily chatting away. I’d definitely venture to try other food choices with my rose latte.

The café lives up to its name. The space is light, friendly and inviting. The menu features a wide selection of breakfasts and plates to share (after noon). The Communal 🥑 toast is simply delicious. Served on warm delicious buttered bread with a dash of chili peppers.

Sweet Mint Cold Brew… Sausage Maple Sandwich… what an experience. I never had cold brew and mint but this combo is so refreshing and not overly sweet. The maple syrup from the sandwich was a good pairing. The coffee shop is also cool as there is a whole store in it with a spot to buy wine. 10/10 for aesthetics and food!

Cafe Moto is a staple local coffee shop in Barrio Logan. With a variety of specialty coffees made from their house-roasted beans, you won’t be disappointed by the flavor. My favorite thing on the menu here is the Mexican mocha which has a delicious Abuelita flavor to it. Also note, that while there is a drive thru and outdoor seating, indoor seating is not available currently.

This place is so cool, I love the unique concept and history. The coffee and pastries are really delicious. This may be one of my new favorite coffee spots!

First time here. Heard a lot of good things about this spot. I picked up a bag a coffee for some home pour over. They hooked me up with some of thier cold brew which is amazing. Thus the 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.I will update rating after some pour overs in the AM. Super excited about this adventure. The staff there was super helpful and knowledgeable about ratio for cold brewing and pour over. Also a good sign when they have roast dates!!

    UPDATED 6/22/21
Day one brew was amazing!! Did a pour over, busing a 17 to 1 ratio at 195°,turned out great! Going to be fun trying all their coffee for pour over and cold brew!!

Has to be my favorite local coffee roaster, they have excellent blends for nearly any taste and knowledgeable staff who know what you would like. For businesses they offer excellent options as well and service that is hard to get from some of the larger establishments. Definitely worth a visit especially to buy some whole bean coffee.

Nice place for a quick breakfast grab-and-go. I got “The McLovin'” bagel sandwich with garlic herb and seasoning bagel and my wife got the “San Diego” with Avocado. The McLovin’ was OKAY. I have had better bagel sandwiches elsewhere. The garlic and herb bagel was simply too sweet for me so it threw everything off. It tasted more like cinnamon rather than garlic. The coffee is maybe a bit better than average. I prefer a sweeter coffee so I got the classic Vanilla Late with an extra pump of vanilla but the coffee still overpowered it. It is still however, fairly smooth and doesn’t taste burnt. I would say this would be more better as a coffee joint rather than a eatery.

A super cute coffee and bagel spot that has a lot of unique bagel and cream cheese flavors. There was a wait but the line moves fairly quickly and the staff are very nice. Love the logo, fun names, and decor. A good way to start a day.

Overall good experience with a great ambiance. Had a bagel and an egg sandwich. The cold brew is good but acidic and I like it a little more richer. The tea wasn’t that good. I would ask for two bags if you get the tea. Great service.

Very nice little local coffee shop with a very cool outdoor atmosphere. Located right on the San Diego Marina added a great view while having a coffee and listening to the outdoor music. Staff was friendly and helpful – coffee was good and popular; the line was often long (but quick). Very short walk from the Marriot, located in Seaport Village.

Enjoyed my coffee and breakfast so much that I decided to buy a mug to bring home to the east coast. Sadly after putting it in the dishwasher just once, wording on the mug rubbed off. There was no warning label on the mug that it was not dishwasher safe, and after reaching out to them to let them know what happened, I had to leave a voice mail and after several days no one has even bothered to call me back. Very disappointed by the low quality of the mug and the lack of customer service.

I’ve come here many times over the past few years, and will be back many more. holsem has magnificent well roasted coffee, delicious espresso, and the most gourmet flavor combos in their lattes/cappuccinos. My go to is the single origin (!!!) cold brew, of which there are usually multiple varieties, perfectly extracted every time. The latte art is always impressive, the breakfast food and pastries are always magnificent. They are the best coffee-makers in San Diego.

Chic, clean and inviting coffee shop with plenty of seating. The friendly barista recommended the Turmeric Ginger Tea and I ordered it although a little skeptical of how turmeric would taste in tea. Pleasant surprise as it was delicious and just the right balance of turmeric and hints of ginger. My friend had the rose dusted latte which she enjoyed. The location was good to walk around and there was outdoor seating as well. Clean bathrooms

Highly recommend the L’orange cappuccino. I wouldn’t have imagined the orange and coffee flavors would pair well together but you’d be surprised! Great spot to get your laptop/book and work at/read. I also had a slice of the lemon poppy cake and love it! Great spot to check out if you’re looking for something in North park.

Great location, friendly service and awesome baristas. Plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. Coffee is great but not a 5/5 for me personally. Biggest issue for my personal taste is grittiness, many of the flavors that are ground (ground cinnamon, etc.) aren’t fully incorporated into the beverage leaving a little bit of flavor sludge at the bottom of the cup. Overall really good though, definitely worth your time to try it out for yourself.

Holsem. A coffee shop for the people. The individuals working behind the counter are less like employees, and feel like family. Mostly drawing upon a youthful crowd, dogs are welcome, the interior adorably decorated, and the coffee is scrumptious. Do yourself a favor, pay this wholesome spot a visit.
